Huda Beauty Review: Is Huda Makeup Safe?

Post Image

In this age of social media celebrities, beauty bloggers galore and the widest selection of cosmetics products to exist in history (so far), it’s easy to get lost in the seemingly unending swarm of information. This goes for both consumers (people like you and me) and those trying to start their own blogs or brands.

The internet has opened a portal of information that we would otherwise not have access to at the tip of our fingers, a unique means of connecting with other people around the world and an entirely new way of marketing oneself, brand or business. It has definitely been a game changer. But there are also a large number of downsides that come with the new information age.

One of the main issues that we seem to battle with (this year in particular) is honesty. Because the internet is largely a ‘free’ platform, anyone is free to say basically whatever they want. Of course, this depends on the platform you choose to use and what you’re saying. But in general, people won’t hold you accountable unless you hold a position of office or influence within the social sphere.

No one was more aware of this when starting her own blog than Huda Kattan. The Dubai-based makeup professional always had a passion for makeup. But obviously, being Muslim and living under Sharia Law meant that she was not fully able to practice her passion, not to mention find work.

She actually started off in the financial sector but decided to pursue her dream as a makeup artist when she lost her job.

After moving to LA and starting her own blog and Instagram profile, she quickly garnered a large number of followers. She currently has over 14 million!

She aimed to create a blog, and later a brand, that was 100% honest. And Kattan is one of the few beauty bloggers who supports other artists in the field by exposing them to the world. She is also incredibly open about the processes for her shoots, styles and products.

In an age where we’re rather sadly accustomed to large brands and retailers hiding or disguising their ingredients in a variety of shrewd way, it’s refreshing to find someone who’s as open and honest as Huda is. So, follow us as we give you an idea of her brand and some of the products she makes that may be worth including on your next shopping list!

Huda Beauty History And Company Explained

As I mentioned earlier, Huda was originally born in Dubai and always had a passion for makeup. At first she largely wanted to create a blog (although, it was really more of a chain-mail email group than a traditional blog at first) and simply practice on her friends in her spare time.

Because Huda is a Muslim, and because Dubai follows Sharia Law, as a woman she was not able to work in service industry jobs. So, after losing her job as a recruiter in the finance industry, an emotional Huda decided to move to L.A. She wanted to follow her dream as a makeup artist. This was a somewhat daring move, considering the culture she grew up in.

First, she started with a blog and an Instagram page. Like so many beauty bloggers and Instagram models around these days, Huda had to really ‘hustle’ to get things off the ground. Originally, the Instagram profile was to help her market her work as a makeup artist. But as she gained more and more followers, it turned into something else entirely.

Today, she is one of the biggest independent beauty influencers on Instagram and in the world. She has roughly twice as many followers as the entire city of New York! But because Huda is a symbol of hope for strong, independent women everywhere, she didn’t simply stop there.

So, in 2013, Huda and her two sisters decided to start their own brand – Huda Beauty. In 5 years, the brand has become one of the fastest-growing makeup and beauty brands in the world.  They are widely referred to as Dubai’s Kardashians – and the resemblance is strikingly uncanny.

As Huda is incredibly honest about the nature of techniques and methods that she uses to obtain each look (and her lasting sense of style), she is just as open or honest about the nature of her products and what is contained within.

To me, this really sets the brand apart from most conventional brands on the market. True honesty and transparency is something that is greatly lacking in the world of beauty and cosmetics.

Take Me Straight To Buy Top Huda Beauty Products

Huda Beauty Products Reviewed

Huda Beauty is a brand that really focuses on glamorous, stylish beauty. The kind of stuff you see on magazine covers, music videos and on the faces of celebrities around the world.

The range includes products for skin, nails, eyelashes and lips. A makeup artist developed it for makeup artists. This means that the products are appropriate for sensitive skin types and are easy to apply.

However, unlike most products that are easy to apply, the Huda range is designed to have long-lasting effects. It will give you a distinct and recognizable look that will easily help you to stand out from the crowd yet remain elegant and understated.

The hunt to find the right makeup brand that suits your look and style can be quite a challenge in a market as saturated as this, with so many different options to choose from.

So, to make your life a little easier, we’ve selected four of Huda Beauty’s most popular products. They’re products that people commonly use in their makeup process. Knowing what you’re looking for really helps. But knowing what you’re buying before you buy it is even more important. So, if you’re still looking for your brand, then keep scrolling.

Want luscious and lively lashes that will make you look like a glamour queen in an instant? Then look no further than Huda Beauty’s selection of eyelash extensions. The greatest thing about this line is that they’re completely vegan-friendly. And they’re made from mild synthetic fibers that are free from harmful chemicals. This means that you can apply them without having to worry about any skin irritation or an allergic reaction.

The extensions are strong and durable. So you won’t have to buy a new set every few moments – a common issue with eyelash extensions. Definitely a worthwhile investment for anyone who’s looking for that high-gloss appeal in a short space of time.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick Review

The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick line is definitely one of the best I’ve come across in recent years. It ranks pretty high when compared to the other celebrity makeup brands that are in the same league as this one, such as Kylie Cosmetics and Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Huda’s lipstick is a little bit more expensive than these brands. Yet you get more volume for the slight extra cost (just over 2 ml), so it tends to even out. But that’s not why I’d recommend investing in this lipstick in particular.

The lipstick is unlike most matte lipsticks in that it never makes your lips feel like they’re drying out over the course of the day. They also have a very soft, smooth look on your lips and don’t tend to crease or emphasise your lip lines.

The range comes in roughly 16 different shades, each suited for different styles or occasions. In fact, their names match the scenario or personality type that they are appropriate for. For instance, there’s ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Trophy Wife’, ‘Cheerleader’ and ‘Video Star’, amongst others.

The Liquid Matte Lipstick spreads easily. It generally only requires one coat to fully cover the surface of your lips. On average, it tends to hold for six hours if you don’t eat or drink too much. It should last about four hours with eating/drinking. It’s incredibly light, so you never really feel like you’re wearing a conventional, thick matte lipstick.

The lipsticks have a slight coconut-esque odor. Yet don’t worry, as this fades quite quickly once applied. All in all, they’re a stylish, ethical and beautiful range of lipsticks. They would make an amazing addition to anyone’s makeup collection.

Huda Beauty Contact Lenses Review

It’s common for our eye colors to change over the course of our lives. Sometimes, the more daring among us are simply drawn to the idea of changing their eye color at some point in their lives – but this is rare as many people consider it similar to changing your name.

The reason for this is largely because it’s a costly and sometimes even painful experience. Many have considered or even tried a surgical process to help change the color of their eyes – but many, including Huda, wouldn’t recommend this.

Instead, she developed a wide range of easy-to-wear contact lenses that come in a variety of different colors. They are quite cost-effective and can really help to give you a dramatically different style (if that’s what you’re going for) or help to highlight your eye’s natural colors and even make them seem larger. So if you’re considering going under the knife – stop! Try a pair of Huda’s lenses first, and see if it works for you, before doing something that you may never be able to undo!

Huda Nails Beauty and Products Review

Most of us are looking for that chic and polished manicure appeal when it comes to our nails – yet we also prefer having a no-commitment type of set-up. What do I mean by this?

Well, imagine being able to give yourself an instant manicure and basically choose how long you’d like it to last.

It may sound too good to be true – but it’s precisely how Huda designed her Huda Beauty nail range. They come in a variety of different styles ranging from more bling-esque, high-gloss looks to more casual, everyday styles.

You can apply the nails with some lotion in order to make them easy to remove. Or you can use the glue that comes with the package to make them last a while longer. When you apply the glue, they can last a while (on average 5-7 days, depending on the circumstances).

I’d definitely recommend trying these out if you’re looking for high quality nails that are both fashionable and easy to apply, remove and maintain. A worthwhile investment for any occasion or even just everyday nail beauty.

Is Huda Beauty Cruelty Free?

In doing my research I found out that a variety of sources list Huda Beauty as being a ‘Pending’ cruelty free brand. This basically means that they’re in the process of qualifying for the title of 100% cruelty free.

However, the motto of cruelty free, naturally-based products can be found throughout the brand’s product line. They generally avoid harmful and toxic chemicals, aim to make products that are pro-vegan and, based on the stance Huda tends to take in her blog, would be against testing their products on animals.

So for now, I think it’s safe to say that Huda Makeup is cruelty-free.

Conclusion

You’d be hard-pressed to find such a stylish brand in this price range on the market these days that’s as well-balanced as the Huda Beauty range. They offer products that are in vogue yet don’t come across as cliche’ or unoriginal. Each line has a unique look and an even more unique formula.

Unlike most of the conventional makeup brands on this level, Huda has ensured that her company makes its products with the utmost care and consideration to both your skin, health and the environment.

I think she takes more care to ensure that her products are as well-rounded as possible because she’s put her name on each one.

If you read her blog, you’ll note how much her products reflect her personality and philosophy. Each one feels like she’s worked on them personally and poured her love, attention and care directly into each one.

In my opinion, this brand is worth investing in, without a doubt. Huda Beauty is stylish, elegant and ethical – a combination that’s hard to find these days.
