4. Watermelon Water Detox Infusion
- Sliced watermelon
- Mint leaves
Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits. When you couple it with mint in a detox it is absolutely delicious! It’s rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, magnesium and vitamins B1, B5 and B6. Other than adding delightful flavor to food and drinks, mint provides you with multiple health benefits. Mint benefits eye health thanks to its vitamin A content, relieves indigestion, and reduces nausea and headaches among its other health benefits.
Watermelon always – without fail – reminds me of summertime. This fruit already contains a large amount of water inside of it (%92), so it really lends itself naturally to being included in such an infusion. There is something so seductive about it. Although I always prefer eating it to drinking it, there is no denying that watermelon has some serious benefits. Combining watermelon slices with mint can help you feel refreshed and ready for anything.
There is a lot of talk about the efficacy of such detoxes, or rather the lack of it. Something helpful to keep in mind, is that these infusions aren’t miracle workers. They won’t help you go from “zero to hero”, as it were. Getting rid of toxins efficiently is something your body knows how to do well enough, and when you introduce these types of infusions into the mix, it can help it out. Fruits and veggies have always been a cornerstone of a nutritious diet, and consuming them in liquid form makes absolute sense to me.
There’s no better time to start experimenting with water detox infusions than in the summer when your body needs the hydration the most. If you don’t fancy any of the detox recipes above, feel free to create your own recipe. Simply add your favorite fruits, veggies or herbs to a pitcher or a fruit infuser bottle, fill it with water and ice and you’re good to go.
Getting in shape and keeping that shape is a challenge for pretty much everyone, especially at first. Infusions such as these can you transition into a healthier lifestyle. You can incorporate them into many mainstream diets, and even some off-the-road kinds of diets. Just remember to get your physician’s green light before doing anything extreme or drastic. Enjoy!
