Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating Shampoo Review
Hi all! My dry hair story begins with me getting a crazy idea to dye my hair and of course I wanted to change the color radically. Most of you can probably guess that I switched from brunette to blonde. But what a mistake it was. No, it wasn’t that I disliked the look – the color suited me perfectly, and during the first couple of months, I felt amazing and looked stunning (thanks in part to this awesome purple shampoo for blonde hair).
However, in a few months I already knew that the damage I’d done to my hair would be very hard to repair. Now all I wanted was to get my color back and make my hair look healthy and shiny again.
Matrix Biolage Company Overview
The Matrix brand is well-established, and it falls under the well-established parent company L’Oreal. Arnie and Sydell Miller first founded the hair care and hair color company in 1980. Before this Mr. Miller worked as a hairdresser for over 20 years, and he also created individually applied eyelashes. He began by forming one company, Ardell, but he ultimately sold it in order to work on establishing Matrix, which he created to sell its products only to professional hair care buyers.
The Millers wanted to make quality products for hairdressers which would help them unleash their talents. And indeed, they accomplished their goal. Arnie created Biolage in 1990, in order to deliver top hair care products using botanical ingredients. Today Matrix Biolage is famous throughout the world, with an amazing line of items for both professional and personal use. The company’s vision highlights using uncomplicated products, and they prioritize sustainability in their work. Read on to learn about one of their top products, the Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating Shampoo.
Dry Hair Problems Explained
If you have never changed your hair color so drastically, you probably still know what dry hair is. Blow drying, perms and even regular dyeing makes your hair dry. I have studied the topic back and forth and now I understand that even some shampoos can make your hair become dry and lifeless.
Well, I changed my hair color back to dark and got as close as I could to my natural color, but the feel to it remained the same – dry, unpleasant and very fragile. Now I needed a strong remedy. Of course, there are tons of products out there which claim to actively bring the moisture back into your curls.
Lots of people will tell you that they’ve discovered the best shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, and for them personally, they might be right. It is very important to understand that the main purpose of any shampoo is to cleanse your hair from extra fat and different dirt particles.
However, sometimes it might be harmful. Shampoos sometimes contain active ingredients which strip the fat off your hair, and if you remove too much or all of this fat, your hair will lose its natural protection and hydration. It will be left dull and dry. That is why choosing the right shampoo is extremely important.
Introducing, Matrix Biolage
Of course I was not going to spend months and hundreds of dollars trying out different products to find the one. I decided to consult a hair technician at my favorite salon. The first thing she recommended turned out the only one I tried because it worked perfectly. Ladies, let me share my experience of using Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo.
Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo is specially designed for women who struggle to find the right balance of dry scalp remedies while still being gentle and kind to their hair. This shampoo is part of a series from Matrix, which was specifically created to provide daily care for exhausted and dry hair. This product nourishes your hair and enriches it with moisture.
The algae and aloe vera extracts make this shampoo capable of restoring the water balance of your hair, as well as providing it with valuable nutrients. After using this shampoo your hair will be full of vitality, and will become elastic and shiny.

Matrix Shampoo Saved My Hair
So the shampoo itself is of a milky color with some pearl shine. It is thick and has a pleasant smell. I must note that it is quite concentrated so a small amount is enough to lather long hair. Therefore, even though it is on the pricey side, it will actually last you longer and help to save money.
Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo actually starts working at the very second you apply it to your hair. It detangles hair during washing; in some cases you might not even need to apply a balm or conditioner after washing.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t my case back then, but after having cured my hair I use conditioner only once in a while because this hydrating shampoo is just enough. After washing your hair don’t forget to soak it with a clean towel. Exactly, soak, don’t rub your hair with a towel like crazy, you will damage it and see split ends very very soon!
Note: I used MATRIX Biolage chic hair conditioner at first; now I only use the hydrating shampoo.
Since I usually shampoo my hair every morning, I continued doing so with this shampoo since there weren’t any precautions against daily usage. I saw first results after the third shower. However, my hair was still far from being perfect. I thought it would take forever to bring the shine back, but the real results showed during the second week. It was such a relief.
I was able to comb it again without losing half of my hair to the comb, I started experimenting with different hairstyles again and could finally say good bye to a hair bun, which was hiding my split ends and dull dry hair all this time. Finally, my hair did not look like a bath sponge any more!
Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo does a great job moisturizing your hair and doesn’t leave the unpleasant heavy feeling, but still make sure you wash it off well. The way you wash your hair is also extremely important: make sure that the water is warm and never hot, because it will damage your hair and you will not get the desired effect from the shampoo.
Warm water opens the cuticles of our hair, letting the shampoo or any other product do its job. Apply shampoo to the scalp and don’t massage into the length and ends or you will dry them. Don’t worry, the ends will get cleaned once you start washing the shampoo off.
Wash it off thoroughly and gently. If you apply conditioner let it start working. Leave it on for about 5 minutes and rinse off gently, never apply a conditioner to the scalp, just the length. It is also very good to rinse your hair with very cold water after you are done washing it. This way the cuticles will close and all the particles you were trying to get into your hair so hard will actually remain inside and will continues nourishing your hair, besides, this technique adds more shine!
Paraben-Free Shampoo And Why It Matters
Another advantage of Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo which was very important to me is that it doesn’t cause any irritations to my scalp, unlike many other professional shampoos. Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie has a nice natural smell, and it doesn’t contain parabens, which are one of the most harmful ingredients in shampoo.
I am enjoying my shiny, silky hair immensely! Also, I noticed that my hair doesn’t get so dirty during the day like it used to, so I’m actually thinking about starting to wash it every other day instead of daily. I think it is a great result! The shampoo restored damaged areas of my brittle curls, which were affected by dyeing and straightening. If you have dry hair and need real therapeutic treatment, ladies, don’t think twice: try Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating shampoo and I promise that you will never think of getting another hydrating shampoo again. Good luck and stay beautiful!
