L’Oreal Kids Shampoo Review

Ah, to be a kid again. Back when it was socially acceptable eat with my hands; when I could order a strawberry milkshake instead of a coffee; and nobody would look at me strangely if I said that Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid was my favorite song. (I still sometimes eat with my hands when no-one’s around, I get my husband to bring me home strawberry milkshakes, and I still sing Part of Your World in the shower. But it’s not the same.)

Then there are all the perks of having specialized kids’ products, like toothpaste and shampoo. Seriously, that bubble-gum toothpaste I used as a kid? I would fantasize about eating it, it tasted so yummy. And the kids’ shampoos always smelled so sweet and delicious.

Bath time can sometimes be a challenge for kids, especially when they’re in the middle of something far more exciting or interesting. Luckily, though, L’Oreal knows just how to make bath time a positive experience for kids, with their specialized shampoos that are perfect for children. Trust me, you’ll love the smell so much, you’ll wish you were a kid, too.

Why Should Kids Shampoo Be Different Than Regular Shampoo?

Kids’ shampoo is often gentler than regular shampoo.

If you’ve ever bathed a kid before, then you’ll know that one of the things they automatically worry about is not getting shampoo in their eyes – even if it hasn’t happened in months, since that one time they moved when you were washing it out. While it’s still not a good idea to get shampoo in your kid’s eyes, kids’ shampoo is gentler on sensitive areas and won’t sting as much if that does accidentally happen.

Kids’ shampoos generally don’t contain irritants like fragrances or colors, and the pH level is usually neutral – holding at 7, which is similar to the human eye.

The term ‘pH’ refers to the potential Hydrogen levels in a shampoo. Any shampoo with a pH level higher than 7 (which is common in many ‘adult’ shampoos) will be more alkaline, which means it is harsher on the hair – and more irritating if it gets into your eyes. Since kids have a harder time staying still than adults, it’s a lot more likely that some shampoo will end up in their eyes somewhere along the line, no matter how careful you try to be.

Therefore, it’s important that the shampoo you use on your child’s hair is especially targeted for children. It’s safer, more pleasant, and it helps that the packaging makes it a whole lot more fun for the kids!

As you might have gathered from its name, this shampoo is designed for your day out to the beach. It’s especially useful at removing the chlorine smell from your little one’s hair, or the salty smell from the beach. His or her hair will be beautiful, soft and shiny in no time after using L’Oreal’s Swim & Sport shampoo & conditioner. The scent is also a kid-friendly orange, which will make your child request this shampoo at every bath time. While we are on the subject of kids’ shampoo, I couldn’t not bring up L’Oreal’s Kids Tangle Tamer spray. True, it’s not a shampoo, but it’s a hair product, it’s for kids, it’s L’Oreal, and it’s awesome, so it deserves a mention. When they say ‘For All Hair Types’, they mean every hair type – be it thick, thin, knotty, straight, wavy, curly, or any other type you can think of.

One of the hardest parts of kids’ hair care is detangling the knots that get in their hair – no matter how often you try to condition it. And if you’ve ever had the joy of needing to use lice shampoo on your child, then you definitely need the Tangle Tamer spray!

You can use this spray on your child’s hair whether it is wet or dry. Hold it about arm’s length from your child’s hair and lightly spray. A little goes a long way, so there’s no need to go crazy with it! Brush the spray through the hair, and you can say goodbye to your child’s knots and tangles. And just like the other L’Oreal hair products, this detangle spray smells delicious, with a fruity pear scent. All in all, I’d say it’s a must for any house with children inside (or even adults)!

Conclusion

If you’re looking for affordable, tear-free kids’ shampoo that smells delicious and works well, look no further than L’Oreal.
