If you have a passion for makeup and have been following beauty bloggers for a while, you’re likely to have come across Dose of Colors by Anna Petrosian – or @MakeupByAnna, as she was originally known as on Instagram when she began posting her hugely successful makeup tutorials.
Dose of Colors is another success in the recent Blogger to Beauty Brand trend, and considering the number of its fans and followers, it seems likely that a bright future is ahead for this brand in the beauty industry.
Dose Of Colors Company Background And History Explained
Anna Petrosian, founder of Dose of Colors, has been fascinated by art and makeup since she was a teenager. She worked for 10 years as a freelance makeup artist, gaining experience from her work at MAC and Sephora, before finally deciding to launch her own makeup line in May 2013.
The reason that her company became so popular in such a short amount of time is due mostly to her strong presence on Instagram, where she amassed a huge crowd of followers who enjoyed her makeup tutorials. Her fans became her first and die-hard customers, and the company now has 2.5 million followers on Instagram, after only a few short years since its conception.
Dose Of Colors Products Overview
Dose Of Colors Lip Line Review
Lipstick was the first makeup product that Dose of Color released, and the company is still known for its superior lip line. There are four kinds of lipsticks and gloss to choose from, each available in beautiful pigmented shades.
Dose of Colors Classic Lipsticks – “A richly pigmented full-coverage lipstick with an ultra-creamy finish”, as they are advertised on the Dose of Colors website, these lipsticks, which come in 18 colours, are gorgeous in appearance and soothing on the lips. They’re super-hydrating, so I would recommend them if you have dry lips.
Dose of Colors Lip Gloss – every girl needs a good gloss in her makeup collection (and her purse), and a Dose of Colors gloss should be your next purchase. These glosses are oh-so-pigmented and shiny, and they don’t get stuck to your hair, which is just about the worst thing with most glosses. These lip glosses look great both on their own or applied over your lipstick. In terms of lasting quality, they are glosses and therefore do not last very long on your lips, so you’ll need to bring the tube along with you to touch up throughout the day, but they are super easy to apply and build up well, so it’s not a big deal.
‘Wild Child’ is a shocking hot-pink colour that works with many skin tones. It’s vibrant and fun and perfect for summer. You can wear it for a night out, or even during the day if you’re feeling a bit adventurous. Another popular shade from the DOC gloss line (with good reason!) is ‘Toxic’, a deep eggplant purple. This shade works particularly well with darker skin tones and adds a dramatic flair to your makeover.
Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks – if you’re looking for a lipstick that will last you almost the whole day, and you’re into the matte lip look, I would definitely recommend the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipsticks. These lipsticks go on really easily, and their lasting power is awesome. They’re available in 29 colours, so you’re bound to find at least one that you love.
Dose of Colors Satin Lipsticks – my personal favourite; I love the shape of this lipstick! The puckered tip makes for super easy application. There are nine individual shades, or you can purchase the Lip It Up Bundle, which includes all nine shades plus a beautiful makeup bag to store them in. These lipsticks last extremely well and are so comfortable to wear. If you’re not into liquid lipsticks, but want a lipstick that will last you for a good few hours, these are your best bet. The soft satin finish is gorgeous and suited for daily use and a night out.

Is Dose Of Colors Totally Vegan? Dose Of Colors Vegan Products Explained
Although Dose of Colors is not a strictly vegan line, they do have a special vegan range, which is clearly marked on their website. The Dose of Colors vegan line includes all of the aforementioned types of lipsticks and gloss, as well as lashes and brushes. If you are interested in a particular item, look it up on the Dose of Colors website, which will specify whether or not the product is vegan-friendly.
Dose Of Colors Eyes And Face Products Reviewed
Dose of Colors may be known for their lipsticks, but their eye and face makeup are made with the same great quality and artistic flair that is so popular with its fans.
Dose of Colors currently has two eyeshadow palettes available on their website (not including special edition palettes) – the Baked Browns palette and the Marvelous Mauves palette. These palettes feature 5 beautiful matte shades each, perfect for both every day and dramatic eye looks.
The Baked Browns palette has – you guessed it – your basic brown colours, including base and transition colours, as well as lighter and darker shades of brown, and the Marvelous Mauves palette has different shades of pink and a couple shades of brown to darken your eye look and make it more striking. These shadows are super pigmented, so you should use a light hand, especially since there can be quite a bit of fallout if you are not gentle.
They last all day and can be carried in your purse if you like to do your makeup on the go – you won’t need any other palette to complete your eye look. Check out the tutorial on their website for both these palettes to learn how to achieve an awesome eye look.
Another product from Dose of Colors which gets ten out of ten for its originality is their Eyedeal (get it?) Duo. As it is described on their website, “The Dose of Colors Eyedeal Duo is a unique pairing of loose pigment and primer, specially designed for ultimate colour pay-off with just the right amount of sparkle!” which is a perfect way to describe this product. Available in fifteen shades, this is your all-in-one travel eye look, with extra shimmer to make your eyes pop.
The primer itself matches perfectly with its glitter pair, and you can use this product on its own or blended with other shadows for more definition. And finally, to truly complete your eye makeup, add on a pair of Dose of Colors lashes to really achieve that super lash look. You have a choice of three pairs of lashes: Dose of Drama, Double Dose or Showstopper, which can be purchased from their website or other beauty stores that stock Dose of Colors products.
Dose of Colors also offers two kinds of face highlighters: Baked Highlighter, which is available in three beautiful marble shades, and Supreme Glow Highlighter, available in six shades.
Even though the Baked Highlighter comes in fewer shades, between the three gorgeous shades you’re honestly bound to find one that works with your skin tone. These highlighters are pretty shimmery, so use a light hand – a little bit goes a long way! – and build up if you want more of a glow.
These work well for an everyday look, since they aren’t too in-your-face when applied sparingly, and can also be used for a night out with a touch more product to give you a more striking glow. Plus, these highlighters are baked, so there is no annoying fallout.
If you don’t usually go for baked highlighters, you also have the option of Dose of Colors Supreme Glow Highlighters. Like the baked highlighters, these are quite pigmented and are easy to apply and build up for a stronger glow. Because of the diversity of the colours and awesome pigmentation, some of these can be used not only as a highlighter but also as a bronzer, eyeshadow or even blush.
Dose Of Colors Makeup Bag Review
With all the new Dose of Colors makeup you’ll be buying, you’ll need another makeup bag to store it all in! Luckily, Dose of Colors has you covered there, too – you can choose either a metallic rose gold makeup case or a pastel mint coloured wristlet. The rose gold makeup case is also offered with the Lip It Up set, and the mint wristlet goes perfectly with Dose of Colors’ Mint For You Collection.
Is Dose Of Colors Cruelty Free? Does Dose Of Colors Test On Animals?
Dose of Colors is a completely cruelty free cosmetic line and is Leaping Bunny and PETA certified.
It’s not every cosmetic company that can become so successful in such a short amount of time! There’s a reason that Dose of Colors has so many dedicated fans – because their products are superior quality, can be used to achieve all kinds of makeup looks from natural to dramatic, and are universally flattering for all skin types. Here’s hoping that they soon include other products like foundation and eyeliner to their repertoire, so we can really achieve a full makeover with this hot new brand
