Boscia has been around since 2002, and in all that time it’s been using plants as the key to its skincare success. The company is all about using natural ingredients in its products.
Boscia likes to “empower plants to do their jobs”’ which I think is a really great way to frame what boscia does. The best part is that they’re all about keeping everyone happy, keeping people with sensitive skin in mind as well. Boscia’s goal is “Skincare meeting the modern world, with an attitude of exploration and excitement”.
Lan Belinsky is the Co-Creator and General Manager of the brand. She moved to the U.S. from Japan with her family when she was a teenager, and her dad ultimately started the company. When Lan finished school she joined the team and has since been leading it to success by putting out products that customers want and need.
Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer Review
The boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer has one of the most intriguing names of any skin care product that I’ve ever used. It’s an ultra-lightweight, fast-absorbing moisturizer that will give dry and dehydrated skin a dose of immediate moisture. This will leave you with a soft, smooth, and supple complexion.
Ideal for normal, combination, and oily skin, this product will treat dryness, dullness, uneven texture, and loss of firmness and elasticity.
Where does this product get its name from? Well, one of its ingredients is the Queen of the Night Cactus Succulent. This ingredient rejuvenates skin, nourishes and rebounds dry skin, and delivers intense hydration and conditioning.

Amongst the product’s other ingredients is South African Resurrection Plant Infusion, which helps reduce redness and boost texture. It also helps with barrier reinforcement, revitalization, and rehydration. Aloe vera flower extract supports dry, sensitive skin and hydrates skin after it’s been exposed to the sun or other harsh elements.
If you’re looking for something to hydrate your skin, this is the item for you. It will moisturize your dry and dehydrated skin while not having the weight of a heavy cream. It’s ideal for priming the skin and perfecting it before applying makeup. If you want a super refreshing feel, store the Cactus Water Moisturizer in the fridge.
Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel Review
The boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel will smooth, brighten, and firm your skin. It does so with a lightweight, three-way peeling gel that gently exfoliates in order to give you deeper and more thorough results.
How does it work? It serves as a physical peel to eliminate dead skin cells, as a chemical peel to get deep into skin to exfoliate, and as a treatment to encourage a younger-looking and healthy complexion.

The boscia peel gel is great for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin. It’s perfect if you’re looking to address dullness, uneven texture, dark spots, fine lines, or wrinkles. It also includes antioxidants that provide chemical exfoliation, as well as pomegranate enzymes.
In order to use this product, all you have to do is apply it to clean, dry skin and gently massage it into your face. Do so in a circular motion for gentle exfoliation, and then rinse it off with water.
Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser Review
Everyone wants a clear complexion, so it’s fair to say that everyone wants the boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser. The boscia face wash is a blemish-banishing cleansing gel that gently and effectively exfoliates to unclog and purify pores while also minimizing blemishes. And it does so without causing irritation.
This cleanser works with dry, normal, combination, and oily skin types. As you’d expect, the main purpose of the boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel is to target acne, blemishes, and redness. But what makes it so great at doing this?
Well, first there’s the willow bark extract. It’s a natural beta hydroxy acid which comes from the willow tree. It gently and effectively exfoliates to unclog and purify pores while refining their appearance. The boscia cleanser also contains rosemary leaf extract, which is an effective antioxidant that helps to make skin firmer and minimize the appearance of pores. And geranium helps to support circulation, balance the production of sebum, and tighten the appearance of skin.

It’s all in the name of this product. The Japanese green tea helps balance the body’s receptors so that they do not produce sebum in excess. Its functions are also supported by burdock root, which absorbs extra oil, thereby eliminating shine. Lastly, the marine complex works to prevent premature aging of the skin by both healing preexisting damage as well as preventing further damage which results from environmental factors.
Boscia Luminizing Black Mask Review
With the boscia Luminizing Black Mask, all you have to do is “peel to reveal a luminous, detoxified, and flawless complexion”. This peel-off mask is powered by Activated Black Charcoal. After using the boscia black mask you’ll be left with a post-peel, pore-less glow.
The boscia charcoal mask, which also includes vitamin C, will help reduce the appearance of pores, eliminate blackheads, and leave you feeling radiant and clean.
I want it: Boscia Luminizing Black Mask
As with the bulk of boscia products, the boscia mask is good for people of all skin types. Start off by cleansing your skin, and then apply a thick, opaque, and even layer to your dry skin. Make sure to avoid your eyes, and do not apply it to your eyebrows, hairline, or lips. Leave the mask on until it’s completely dry, about 25 minutes. Then gently peel it off, starting with the outer edges. Afterward, rinse off any residue you have with warm water. Boscia then recommends that you use the Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel as the final step. If it’s your first time using this product, then as with all new products, you might want to test it out first. Start with a small patch of skin, and then when you don’t experience any adverse reactions you’ll know that you can proceed with using the mask on larger areas.
Boscia Matcha Mask Review
Oiliness, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and dark spots have all met their match with the boscia Matcha mask. Ideal for people with combination, normal, or oily skin types, this clay/mud boscia face mask will detoxify, decongest, and destress your skin.
This is all thanks to the antioxidant-rich Matcha Green Tea. It delivers a bunch of nutrients to your skin, reducing redness and inflammation that results from free radical damage. This mask will help revive stressed and tired skin and absorb excess oil.
The boscia face mask comes with a spatula, or you can use your fingers to apply it to your face. You might want to apply it everywhere, or you might choose to only use it in specific areas. After applying, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then just rinse it off with water.

Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel Review
With the boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel, you can really treat your skin right. It will reduce the appearance of pores, refine skin texture, and brighten skin. It does so with an ultra-cool, ultra-light gel moisturizer made up of Vitamin C and black charcoal.
This gel will make your skin feel smooth, refreshed, and clarified. The artichoke leaf extract reduces the appearance of pore size by increasing skin elasticity. The pore wall is therefore less likely to stretch and hold onto debris. It also prevents hyperpigmentation and brightens the pore wall, thereby decreasing the appearance of pores.

Boscia BB Cream Review
The boscia BB Cream is here to save the day by protecting, hydrating, and perfecting skin. The cream is rich in antioxidants and will help defend your skin against the sun, pollution, and blue light.
The Blue Light Active Rice Blend helps shield skin from light while also helping to prevent free radical damage. Other ingredients such as turmeric oil, taro root extract, willowherb, and jojoba also help to make this product a powerful skincare tool.
This BB cream comes in four different color options for you to choose from. The first is Venice, which is soft seashell with neutral undertones. The palmitoyl pentapeptide helps lift skin and fight wrinkles. It also works to activate the process of extracellular matrix renewal by stimulating cell renewal and boosting collagen production. Lastly, the rice bran in the boscia Tsubaki Swirl helps minimize dark spots, encourage glowing skin, fight premature aging, and encourage skin hydration.
Is Boscia Cruelty Free?
Is boscia cruelty free? Well, depends on whom you ask. According to boscia’s website, the company is cruelty free. The company claims that it “does not advocate animal testing on raw ingredients or finished formulas, and we are committed to working with partners who share those same values”.
Yet according to PETA and Cruelty-Free Kitty (CFK), this company is NOT cruelty free. PETA holds that the company does test their products on animals, while CFK agrees. According to CFK, boscia doesn’t directly test ingredients or products on animals, nor does it advocate for doing such. It also prides itself on trying to work with companies who feel similarly. Yet the issue arises when selling items in places such as mainland China, places whose governments mandate the testing of cosmetics on animals. When a company chooses to sell their products in these markets, they lose their “cruelty free” status. To save face, boscia claims that “we are unable to control the testing methods used by outside governments”. Yet they can choose whether or not they sell their products there.
If you’re looking for products to hydrate your skin, fight against free radical damage, target signs of aging, and overall clean your skin, Boscia should be on your list of go-to brands. With their unique mix of natural ingredients, they’re got you covered with practically every issue.
For some, the cruelty-free issue might turn them off of the boscia brand. Yet for others, the fact that boscia makes plenty of efforts to not do animal testing will be enough. Check them out and decide for yourself!
