BH Cosmetics and Products Review: Bold. Brilliant. Beautiful.

Post Image

With so much competition in the beauty industry today, cosmetic companies need to prove to the public why their brand differs to the other companies on the market. What makes their particular line of cosmetics special? With BH Cosmetics, it’s certainly their low prices for high quality – something all women are looking for and which can be surprisingly hard to find. That is, unless you know where to look.

Interested in superior quality cosmetics but don’t want to break the bank? Never heard of BH Cosmetics? Read on to discover all about this cutting-edge brand and some of their most popular products today!

BH Cosmetics Company History & Background Explained

Assorted collection of colorful eyeshadow palettes.

BH Cosmetics Products.

The founders of BH Cosmetics Fred Sadovskiy, Robert Safaradi and Kirill Trachtenberg, started BH Cosmetics in 2009. What made their company unique was their creativity, their marketing strategies, and the fact that they produced bold, quality makeup for low prices. BH started off with a bang by introducing a 120-colour eyeshadow palette as their first product, using known YouTubers to spread their company’s name – a marketing technique that was way ahead of its time. Today, the company has over 100,000,000 (yes, that’s 100 million) views and 90 thousand followers on YouTube.

BH Cosmetics Products Overview

BH Cosmetics offers all kinds of makeup products from your eyes, to your face, to your lips, in strong and highly pigmented colors, great quality, and super-low prices. They are known for their frequent and fabulous sales, and their products appeal mostly to college-age students. Think young folks who are on a tighter budget but don’t want to compromise on the quality of their makeup.

BH Cosmetics Brushes Review

BH Cosmetics has an extensive range of brushes, available individually or in sets. If you’re after good quality brushes for drug store prices, these are the brushes for you. The way your makeup will look once applied has a lot to do with the brushes you use to apply it. Therefore, it’s essential that the brushes you use are of superior quality and suited to your needs!

BH offers virtually every kind of brush you might need to apply, blend or fix up your makeup. I have a thing for fan brushes, and BH’s Deluxe Fan Brush (Brush 16) is no exception. I’ve yet to be let down by a BH Brush. They might even be my favorite brush-maker – they’re right up there with Make Up For Ever!

The Deluxe Fan Brush is super-soft, and looks beautiful with its pretty white bristles with black tips. What’s awesome about this brush is that you can use it for so many things; highlighting, contouring, blush or even light powder foundation (although it’s quite big so it can’t really be used for precise application). It holds product well and feels so comfortable against the skin.

Another brush that works well for setting powder or for applying a soft layer of powder foundation for a natural, everyday look is Brush 35 – the Domed Kabuki Brush. Because of its large shape, you can powder your face in seconds for a finished look. It’s soft and fluffy, and holds a decent amount of powder. Plus, it looks super-cute and classy, and you would be forgiven for mistaking it for a high-end brush.

Then there are the BH Cosmetics brush sets. There are small sets of three or five brushes, a super-size set of 36 brushes, as well as other size sets in between. The Ultimate 36-piece brush set makes for a great present and will totally cover all your brush needs. While there are a few brushes that are quite similar, at less than a dollar per brush it’s extremely good value for money and the quality is amazing. The set comes in a beautiful faux leather case with a silver clasp so it presents beautifully and keeps the brushes in good condition.

If you can’t see yourself using 36 different brushes and prefer a smaller set, you may want to try one of BH’s smaller sets.

The Studded Couture 12-piece brush set comes in a beautiful faux-leather cylinder holder. It’s a soft ivory color with diamond-shaped indents and gold studs, giving it a designer look. Each brush has white bristles with dark tips, and light colored handles with shiny gold on top, so they look super classy. The 12 brushes will have you set for a full-face look, from your foundation to your eyeliner. Again, these brushes are so soft and apply beautifully, and are 100 percent cruelty-free.

Whether you prefer to buy your brushes individually, or prefer to buy them in sets, I would recommend checking out BH Cosmetics’ website. Whatever it is you’re after, you’re guaranteed to find it there.

BH Cosmetics Forever Nude Sculpt & Glow Contouring Kit Review

Bh Cosmetics Forever Nude Sculpt and Glow Contouring kit.

Bh Cosmetics Forever Nude Sculpt and Glow Contouring kit.

If you’re one of those people who doesn’t like having to use a bunch of different products in order to achieve the perfect makeover look, BH Cosmetics has you totally covered. The Forever Nude Sculpt & Glow Contouring Kit is the only thing you’ll need for your entire face – it’s a bronzer, highlighter, contour, and blush in one. The packaging makes it ideal for carrying around if you need to touch up during the day, and you don’t have to worry about taking along four separate items.

The Forever Nude Sculpt & Glow Kit comes in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark, making them perfect for people of almost any skin tone. It comes with five compartments: 2 highlighters on top, in a banana shade and a pearl-champagne for the Light/Medium kit, and a bronze-brown shade for the Medium/Dark kit. Underneath are two shades of bronzer and a beautiful blush. All the colors look great on their own, and blended together.

It’s the kind of palette that you will always need, because it’s pretty much your entire makeover, at least as far as your skin is concerned. The powders are super-easy to blend and are long-wearing. What’s not to love?

BH Cosmetics Foundation Line Review

On the topic of skin cosmetics, BH also has a range of foundations available to suit a range of skin types and tones.

If you’re into liquid foundations, the Naturally Flawless Liquid Foundation is the latest addition to BH’s foundation line. Available in 18 colors, this foundation has a dewy finish and is extremely build-able, so you can achieve a light, medium or full coverage look. It’s pretty thick in consistency, so I would recommend starting out light and building up according to your preference.

Speaking of liquid foundations, BH also offers Studio Pro HD Foundation. However, this foundation is currently only available in five colors. If you’re looking for a foundation that looks great on an HD camera, this is the foundation for you. It has more of a light-to-medium coverage, so you’ll probably need concealer in addition to this foundation, although it does blend and build up beautifully. The Studio Pro foundation applies well with a beauty sponge and with a brush (and probably with your fingers too) and is water resistant. It’s quite matte, so if you have dry skin, you’re probably best off using a moisturizing primer underneath.

If you’re into powder foundation, BH Cosmetics Radiance Mineral Powder foundation is a great dupe for a high-end powder. It’s perfect for everyday when you’re looking for something quick, easy and natural. This foundation is a loose powder and provides a soft, matte finish.

There’s also the BH Cosmetics Foundation & Concealer Palette, which looks kind of like a really big nude eyeshadow palette. There are two palettes available: Fair-to-Medium and Medium-to-Dark, and each contains 10 shades of cream foundation. The shades are all easy to blend and highly build-able, so you can use them as concealer or for a light coverage look, and build up to a medium or full-coverage look. Because it has so many colors in the one palette, it’s incredibly versatile. You can use the lighter shades to highlight, and these creams could also be used to fill in your eyebrows. You can wear each color on its own, or blended with other shades, so you’re able to create the perfect shade for your skin tone in any season.

BH Cosmetics Palette Breakdown: Galaxy Chic, Contour Chic, Contour & Blush, 120, 88 Neutral, Concealer

We know that BH Cosmetics started off with a palette, and they haven’t stopped making them since! While BH produces a wide-range of makeup products today, it keeps in touch with its roots, offering high-quality palettes galore. Today, the company has a palette for all sorts of makeup products.

The Galaxy Chic eyeshadow palette is s super-cool shadow palette with 18 shimmery shades that can be used dry, and wet, if you’re going for a more dramatic look. The packaging is designed to look like outer space, and the shades have names of planets, stars and other galaxy-related titles. This palette is awesome for smoky-eye looks, and a few of the shades are marbleized, adding a fun effect. Like all BH products, this palette is a low-priced item with high-end quality. The shadows are very pigmented, and will last you all day.

The BH Cosmetics Contour & Blush palette includes 6 pans of product – 2 blushes and 4 bronzer/contour colors. They are all completely matte, and you can use this palette for your bronzer, highlighter, blush and for contouring. The blushes are highly pigmented, whereas the other colors are quite light at first, but build nicely.

We can’t talk about BH Cosmetics palettes and neglect to mention the palette that started it all. There are currently five (!) editions of the famous 120 Color eyeshadow palette, and if you’re thinking that you can’t even name 30 colors, then you might want to check out these beauties. Each of these palettes contain two trays with 60 eyeshadow pans in each. Although a few of the colors may look very similar, it’s still a really good buy considering how many shadows you get for under $20. There are bold shades, neutral shades, shadows in shimmery, matte, satin, and even a few with a marbleized effect. All the shadows are extremely pigmented and long-wearing. As you might have guessed, this palette contains virtually any color you could ever want, no matter what look you’re going for.

If you heart nude eyeshadow looks, definitely check out BH Cosmetics’ 88 Neutral eyeshadow palette. Although it doesn’t have quite as many shades as the 120 color palette, it’s still a very impressive range – for a very low price. The shades are mostly shimmery, satin and pearly, however there are a few matte shades. Even though this is a beautiful neutrals palette, there are a few bolder colors offered for when you’re going for that subtle look but still want a pop of color. There are cool and warm-toned shadows, and each can be worn on its own, blended with other colors, or used as a base color for any eyeshadow look.

BH Cosmetics also a few concealer palettes, including their 6 Color Concealer & Corrector Palette, which comes in three varieties – Light, Medium and Dark – each with six pans of product. When I first looked at the palette I thought, “A concealer that’s green?”, but it actually works! The mint green concealer is great for covering and minimizing redness, whereas the yellow, orange and brown tones are better for covering dark circles and blemishes. These concealers are really smooth and creamy, and are great for achieving that “no makeup look” – when you don’t want foundation, but still want to hide your imperfections. Plus, the case is small and compact; perfect for carrying around in your handbag for touch ups throughout the day.

BH Cosmetics Lipstick Line Review

Close up of red lips.

BH Cosmetics Lipstick.

BH Cosmetics is known for its bold colors, and its lipstick line certainly does not disappoint. With BH’s Pop Art Lipstick – Extreme Lip Color line, every single color is fun and can instantly change your entire makeover around. The lipsticks themselves are creamy and have a matte finish. All the colors have names like Pow, Bang and Crash, to name a few, which adds to the intense-pop theme.

If you’re not so daring, you can try BH Cosmetics’ Crème Luxe Lipstick. It’s also $1.99 on sale, and has a smooth, creamy texture, but the colours are safer and more suited to your everyday look.

BH Cosmetics also has a long-lasting lipstick line, called Color Lock. These lipsticks have a perfect matte finish and not overly-drying, although if you have very dry and/or chapped lips, you might want to moisturize before applying these lipsticks. Otherwise, great pigmentation and long wear, for a low price.

If you love liquid lipsticks, BH Cosmetics has four varieties of them to cover all your needs. The Luxe Lacquer Vivid Color lipsticks come in 12 vibrant colors, which are super pigmented and great for everyday and a night out. The Metallic Liquid Lipstick line has more unusual and darker shades than your typical lipstick line, and is long-lasting with a matte metallic finish. If you prefer a regular matte finish for your long-lasting lipstick look, try BH’s Long-Wearing Matte Lipstick. There are 23 colors to choose from, including nudes and reds, as well as bolder colours like vivid purple. There’s also the Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale lipstick, available in 3 beautiful shades named after three vibrant cities – London, Miami and Milan.

BH Cosmetics also carries a few lipstick palettes, ranging from six lipstick colours in a palette to a 28-colour lipstick palette. The texture of these lipsticks is smooth and creamy, and each colour can be worn on its own, layered or blended together with other lip colours to create a personal look.

BH Cosmetics vs. Coastal Scents: What’s The Difference? Which Is Superior?

Coastal Scents logo.

Coastal Scents.

While it’s true that BH Cosmetics and Coastal Scents do purchase certain products from the same manufacturer in China, and therefore do have some products that are the same or very similar, there are still many differences. BH Cosmetics makes certain products that Coastal Scents does not make, and the same goes for Coastal Scents. There are also products that both companies make but that are certainly not the same thing; for example, their brushes. So, which company is superior, BH Cosmetics or Coastal Scents? As with everything, it’s really a matter of preference.

Both companies have their pros and cons. The pros of Coastal Scents are that it tends to be cheaper at full price (though slightly), and you might enjoy some of its products that BH Cosmetics does not offer. The pros of BH Cosmetics are that in general, the customer service is known to be superior and its shipping is very fast. Shipping for BH Cosmetics will never cost you more than $6.95 USD – you’re not guaranteed that with Coastal Scents. Plus, the prices for BH Cosmetics are only slightly higher than Coastal Scents’ products, and are frequently on sale, ultimately making it cheaper than Coastal Scents.

Both Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics offer good quality products for budget prices. However, I would be more inclined to go with BH Cosmetics, simply because of its excellent customer service and fast shipping.

Where To Buy BH Cosmetics

The best place to buy BH Cosmetics is probably from their website, bhcosmetics.com, because of their unbeatable sales that are on all the time. You can also purchase their products on online stores like Beauty Bay and Ulta, and also from stores like Target and Walmart.

Is BH Cosmetics Vegan?

Although BH Cosmetics is not officially a vegan cosmetics brand, they have an extensive range of products that are vegan-friendly, and seem to be expressing interest in eventually becoming fully vegan.

Is BH Cosmetics Cruelty Free?

Yes, BH Cosmetics is completely cruelty-free!

Conclusion

If you haven’t tried anything from BH Cosmetics yet, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for. The quality of their products is very high, the service is wonderful, and considering the prices, especially the sale prices, you really can’t go wrong. It’s a great option for anyone, whether you’re on a tight budget and can’t spend a lot on makeup, or you just want a few cheaper options to add to your collection.

It may not be as perfect as your department store makeup, but for the price, everyone would agree that you get more than your money’s worth when you go with BH Cosmetics.
